The Laboratory of Business Economics & Decisions (LABED@UoI) is a multi-disciplinary research unit within the Department of Economics at the University of Ioannina.

LABED@UoI aims at bridging the research outcomes and state-of-art knowledge in business economics and finance with the dynamically changing needs of real economy.

Its research activities focus mainly on three interrelated streams, namely:

1. Data Analysis
2. Business and Finance
3. Entrepreneurship

LABED@UoI applies a series of techniques to analyze business processes, model business decisions and support business decision making. Algorithms are designed, developed and applied and tools are built for the efficient allocation of resources and optimal delivery of production outcomes. Data driven methods are applied for knowledge extraction.

Within the same framework, the laboratory’s research activities explore the factors which shape the financial decisions of economic units operating in globally integrated markets. LABED@UoI also investigates the areas where financial accounting and management help in decision making for risk assessment, investment, and strategic planning.

Finally, LABED@UoI utilizes both market and data analysis to provide business advice for existing and new firms. New business models are developed and strategic advice is offered incorporating innovation as a key element for successful market presence.
